polaris ranger tm power question?
I bought a Ranger TM or UTV 1500 Professional Series for the kids for Christmas. I got it out today and it won't pull itself out of a wet paperbag. This model has only Low and Super Low vs the Ranger TM with High and Low.
When I went to go up a gravel driveway, I had it up to top speed (18mph) and it went limp as the incline increased. It would climb it in Super Low, but I felt it was still down on power. I then took out the raised golf cart with a Yamaha gas engine and it went up twice as fast. To say this is a bummer after spending 6-7000 is an understatement. Do I just have a bad unit that needs to go back to the dealer? This has a 18 HP V Air Cooled Engine. I would have expected it to cruise up the hill without any problems. Thanks

polaris ranger tm power question?
It is the same as the Ranger TM. The professional series is designed to pull more and carry a little more payload.
It is not the Ranger 500 (4x2 or 4x4 or 4X6) The motor is a 653cc 2 valve vee twin cylinder air cooled made by a Japanese Company for Polaris. The motor is 18 HP.

polaris ranger tm power question?
My friend owns Colonial Cyclesports in VA. He is a polaris dealer for Rangers. He took pity on me and fixed my machine. I had fouled the plugs with about 2 hours on them. The dealer just drove it from his garage to the front of his lot day after day. It also needed the transmission adjusted and shift linkage. The machine runs super strong now. It runs in the low 20's mph. I have it now fitted with oversize tires and wheels and spacers to set them out a little more for clearance. We also put on the full ranger roll cage. It is hot looking with the yellow plastic. I did get a great deal on it. $4300.00 then I added about $1500.00 in add ons. I could have bought anything I wanted; however, it is just a toy and we have 4 other ATV's, a Dirt Bike, Yamaha Scooters, off road golf cart and a go kart. If you really want something that is fast and scary you might want to ride my 5HP Honda Bar Stool with a torque converter and drag wheelie bars. It is not very good off road and is hard to turn with a live axle. Regards

Man I think we only sold one Tm with the twin cylinder "lawn mower" engine if I remember correctly. Didn't even stock the yellow"professional" series as it was basically the same thing only a tad beefier on suspension, tranny was different from the brochures...As far as a roll cage over the cab, think both did have it,but may be wrong. All I can remember as there wasn't much of a demand for them down here for either one. Others may be able to help better on this one..
