My rifles are for deer, hogs and black bear.

*My main gun is my Remington 7600 carbine 30-06 Spr. w/Leupold VX-II 2-7x33mm. Still trying different ammo. Hopefully it'll like a 165 gr. load. It's my 2 to 200 yard gun.

*My thick brush, deep woods, deer drives or some times still hunting open sight gun Marlin 336C 35 Rem. w/XS Ghost Ring Sights. It shoots Remington 200 gr. soft point Core-Lokt's.

*My field watching/long range guns in my Remington 700 Classic 280 Rem. w/older Redfield Tracker 3-9x40mm Scope. It likes Remington 140 gr. pointed soft point Core-Lokt ammo. Shoots right around an inch if I do my part. Might put a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40mm Scope on it. The Redfield has never given me a reason to replace it though.

NYH1!

I Deer hunt almost exclusively in Wisconsin on 9 wooded acres I own. I have used a Remington 700 SPS tactical in .308 for the past few years. Prior to that, a lever action in 45 Colt. Recently (A week ago) I purchased a new Springfield Armory M1A that I am still waiting for parts (Scope mount etc.) I use a Weaver Kaspa Series 3-12x44MM. That takes me out further than I am comfortable shooting. With only 9 acres, which is 600'x680', I don't really want to reach out too far. I shoot .308 exclusively because the ammo is accurate at distances way longer than I will ever shoot, because I only want to store one ammo for all my long guns, and the ammo is reasonably priced. Not to mention easily re-loaded. Still you are looking at round costs from slightly under a buck a round on up.

Late 60's Marlin336 35 Rem. lever action with a Bushnell Trophy XLT 3x9x40mm.

Don't have a pic with the scope on it. Scopes new.

Father bought rifles for my oldest brother and I for Christmas the years we passed hunter safety and could hunt by ourselves. Brother got the same gun you got and I got a Marlin 1894 .44 magnum lever action. Both were bought at Kmart over 35 years ago for about $100 each. Wish I could still get such a quality lever action for that kind of money still. .44 is quite the brush gun.
