AR-15 Advice

I like DPMS. Functions very well, priced right, parts compatable, and a solid platform (regardless of what the '5.56 is a mouse-gun' folks say). It's not about being macho or that a larger caliber is 'better'. Training and practice is what makes the difference. Know your weapon utilizing aspects of speed, accuracy, and efficiency.....keep it clean, use high quality mags, and it will serve you for a lifetime.

I personally have one mutt AR that I built, has an RRA lower, bushmaster barrel, CMT upper, RRA stock and so on. Thats my work/play rifle. My other is a pieced together bushmaster varminter. Most brands now are pretty close to the same. It depends on what you want to do with it as to what style to get/build. I agree with checking on arfcom, lots of good info on there. Just days of reading, and lots of biased opinions too.

I here a lot of people don't like the AR but it works well for target, hunting, or what ever. I have a Stag arms .556 M4 and use it all most every day for wolfs, but hunted big game even a brown bear don't advices it had no way to get away 10 rounds and walked away. but most of the ar builders make a good product. my next is going to be a DPMS in .243 cal. or .260 rem. but like to have another Stag but they only have .556 and 6.8 cal.

I got a rock river arms Rock River Arms: that is sweet I have shot thousands of rounds through it without any problems. Plus I do clean it after shooting it and use better ammo (stay away from wolf ammo very dirty it is cheap for a reason).

+1. Same thing here, got a RRA, and the only ammo that it didnt like was crappy wolf ammo. otherwise it has never had a jam.
