HONDA FOURTRAX RELIABILITY AND SPEED
I had a 99 300 4x4 that I traded to my mother. It was an awesome bike. It went 45 mph when it was new but it goes well over 50 now that it is broken in. My 210lb little brother recently clocked it at 53 beside a rubicon and it has gators on it now. It is no speed demon but is a fun all around utility bike. It is very reliable. The only thing I did not like about mine was the drum brakes. They get corroded in a hurry if you ride in water and mud. The only solution is to disassemble the brake drums and clean them periodically. Other than brakes, cv boots, bearings, and a tie rod end I've never had to do anything to the bike and it has tons of miles on it. Stills starts and runs like the day it was purchased.
As for performance, I'm sure it will hold its own against a 350 rancher.

Not a bad quad, all things being equal. I looked long and hard at a few before I got the Foreman. I wanted a little more power and bottom end torque for working. I wouldn't hesitate to get one for a trail machine, everybody I talked to said good things about them.

HONDA FOURTRAX RELIABILITY AND SPEED
We have a 1999 or 1998(not sure) model Fourtrax 4X4 and it's like a rock. We bought it new and haven't had to change anything but the oil, tires, and brakes. We ride it every year deer hunting, and it's never given us one problem. 0 degree's after being on the truck all night, and it fires right up. Definetly, hands down, without question, the toughest s.o.b ever built. Basically how Honda and reliability became a hand in hand phrase.
It's next to impossible to destroy one of these machines unless you purposely do it.
Ours top speed is around 50mph, and we run Dirt Devils on it.
