Yes 400ex shocks fit. But u need the mounting bracket kit to make them fit. there not a direct bolt on. Diamond J customs makes the shock mounting bracket and he sells them on ebay. U dont have to use 400ex a arms but there a nice alternative to buying aftermarket plus size a arms. If u put 400ex a arms on a 300ex it will give u a two inch wider stance in the front. Since 400ex a arms are about an inch longer than 300ex a arms. U can bolt up your 300ex spindles and hubs on the 400ex a arms. Honda uses the same size ball joints on there quads. You can use your tie rod ends but u will need 400ex tierods If u use 400ex a arms! Also u could convert the whole front end to 400ex by gettin 400ex hubs and spindles. Honda uses the same size front wheel bearings and the brake calipers. your 300ex calipers will bolt right up to the 400ex spindles. I dont know if u can use 300ex front brake lines with 400ex arms. It might work but itll probably be a lil tight up there. better to get 400ex front brake lines as well if u were to get 400ex a arms. But basicly alot of hondas parts can swap over to different models. I have done the 400ex shock conversion on my 250x and its awesome!! If u have anymore q's just write back.

Opps forgot to answer your other questions. lol For the rear shock no it will not fit a 300ex. The rear axle im not sure i dont know if anyone has tried it but if it did fit im sure it would be slightly wider than a 300ex axle.

sounds like we're not gonna doit then. but u never know. he's not the most mechanically inclined person in the world so he might just get aftermarket shocks and be done. I could probly help him do the 400ex front end conversion though... i saw a thing on ebay for 250ex front shock (400ex) conversions. it just made the shocks mount higher so it doesnt make the a-arms so wide. why doesnt the 400ex rear shock fit? does it just need new bushings?

The 400 swing arm is linkage and the 300 is direct mount. The bottom of the 400 shock is "female", and the 300 is "male".

If the rear shock has a rezzie it has to be a remot reservoir. A 2001 Raptor shock works. And i heard is aweosme for it. I dont think a 400 axle works though. I think they have diff. size carriers. BUt im not possitive. I wanna do the swap to, but those arms get pricey on ebay.

if someone could get back to me on this, that would be awesome seeing as the bids with 400ex front shock conversion kits are ending soon. how hard is it to get the raptor rear shock on? can someone enlighten me?

The raptor shock isnt hard at all to put in. jsut make sure its from an 01 raptor!!! I have one that i need to put in. I might even do it today since i need to take my quad all apart for repairs. And i spent some time looking at micro fish schematics for the 400ex and 300ex. and i have to say theres a super good chance the 400ex axle will work. I say this because alot of the parts are interchangable. and it wouldnt even matter if they had diff size carriers because they share the same size axle bearings!! I need to find a 400ex axle to play with to see what it takes to make it all function correctly. But i think it will work. As far as a front shock replacement off another quad there is none. Best thing is to get the 400ex shock conversion kit and 400ex shocks off of ebay. If ur lucky u can get it all for less than 200 bucks.
