Default Iz my tranny gone? or what?

Ok i have a 250x with and big bore kit, higher compression piston, bigger intake and exhaust, FMF pipe and header, New timing chain, ported and polished head (Stage 1 MX port), new chain tentioner proformance cam and valves, and i am wondering if all this work has toasted my tranny?? Oh i also have a new Barnett clutch instaled, The fourwheeler shifts fine in 1st 2nd and 3rd but when i get it higher up it reves Extreamly high!!! and if i let off of it it acts like it catches and then goes... but if i get back on the gas it does the same thing... well it is kinda slower than it was like taking off wise and it acts like its held back... it has just stared doing this.. i just put my engine back in the bike after some resent polishing the side cases and everything like that.. the clutch Iz way out like you bairly have to press it for it to grab and u switch.. so if u could help me out that would be great! Oh in the winter if i can get by im going to put all new gears in it and a 12.7mm stroker crank, and get a new Cam (sparks racing cam) and replace the piston and get a new timing chain.. so i hope i described it good enouf if u can help me out that would be great!

Did you replace all six plates and the 7 friction disks or just put in the Barnett basket?

Are you sure that the basket wasn't grooved anywhere? I'd be really surprised if it wasn't after 18 years. My 86 had grooves on every finger and the clutch operated just like you described. I filed the grooves out, put it back together and it works fine now.

That's exactly where they SHOULDN'T be! Could very well be the cause of your problem if they are bad enough. I used a fine file all the way around the outside of the basket, cleaned and reinstalled. Check out this auction, this is what the outside of the fingers should look like. Get rid of the grooves or replace the basket!
