Don't be bummed, that is an easy fix, and once welded will probably be stronger than new. Can't hurt to ask the seller for at least part of the cost to get it welded though. He may even know a good place to get it done. Also, the reality of the situation is at that age, you may have to replace parts/fix it more often than a brand new quad. You will be enjoying that 250 in no time.

All -
Thanks for the positive reinforcements here.
It has lifted my spirits abit. I have consulted two
top notch welders in my area. Now I am waiting
on their responses. Hopefully since I know them it
will be close to the cost figures you all are throwing
around ($20-50 buckeroos)
I will keep ya all posted. FYI, the seller has not yet
contacted me back after I sent him and our mutual
friend (mediator) the pics of proof. No surprise there!

that's still a great bike for the price. stop crying about a stupid little stress crack. big deal. this is nothing!
900 bucks is cheap! a welder will clean it up a little and make a nice little gusset and it will be better than new for under a hundered bucks. or maybe some one will just zap the crack closed rite quick wam bam style for a 12 pack of beer or 20 buck or something and it still will be fixed and just fine.
did i read this is for a 19 year old? hell tell his *** to fix. 19 year olds can weld. hardly a kid? i wouldn't give a 19 year old $#1t but walking papers. that mamas boy needs a job. he could buy his own new bike.

start of purchase (FYI, we haven't even
ridden this quad yet, I don't know what further awaits
me with more problems). As I thought after I
bought this thing, it was ready to ride

would be responsible to be on the hook to
make right the problem, let him take care
of the cost of having this welded. (Not sure
if that will happen?)
Just entertaining the thought, how much
work is involved with dissassembly/assembly
of changing out the frames? And do to the
age of these frames am I really better off
with the same year 1987 frame replacement?
Maybe a strip down process is in order to
re-inforce like every weld point etc. Wow, what
alot of work. Is there anything newer than
the 1987 year that has the same frame?
Maybe a not so older year frame replacement
would be better but wait a minute what would
be the cost? What a mess....
Thanks (bummed out)

Yep, just like you said, it's just another thing you have to fix before you can ride it. Next time you'll look more carefully though :-P
