I need some advice
I bought a 2000 400 ex for 1800. It has douglas wheels, new tires all around, handlebars, nerf bars, all new bearings and it did run strong. I rode it all night and we pulled off the trail and i shut it off. Well when i tried to start it it just clicked. The battery was dead so i jumped the battery and got it to start. When it died it sounded like the piston was hitting the side of the moter. So i got a new battery and it would turn over but it kept making the same noise. Then it would not do nothing the wheels whould not even turn. They were locked up. About a week later i took it and was going to get a guy to look at it and he had it turning over. I had one guy tell me that it jumped time. Then i had sombody tell me the moter seized up. If any one could help me than i would appreciate it. Also how hard is it to rebuid a 400 by your self and you have never done it before.

I need some advice
i would take it to a certified honda dealer and have them l@@k at it get a quote and the take it to a trustworthy mechanic and get a quote but don't say what honda said it the problem was and let them see if they say the same thing. and if the trustworthy mechanic says the same i would go with him if the price is right
just because i dont know about honda but when i had a Polaris and had to take it in they are a rip of and just take your money.
honda might be better and thats why i said to check it out but when my brother took his suzuki in to get a part replaced it was like $80 hr so we did it our selves
but if you try to do it your self and get it all apart and decide that you need to take i somewhere they might not take it in and you might loose parts
keep me posted
