In my opinion, anything Honda 2 or 4 w/d that runs well no mater how old is worth at least 1500.

I know they are cheaper in the US but i just bought a 99 TRX300 FWX Fourtrax, here in Canada, from the original owner in very good condition. Plastic is almost like new barring a few scratches. I paid 2500 and everyone says that was a real deal.

I too am in Canada (Ontario) and I paid 2100 dollars for a 1986 fourtrax. (no laughing please)

It is in VERY nice shape. If you saw it you would say WOW! It looks like it has never been in more than 2 inches of water and is ALL original except for the new tires last year (they wear out fast cause your always in 4wd). I'd guess it has about 100 hrs use. I shopped around quite a bit and the CRAP some people want big money for is incredible. I was on a limited budget and wanted something under 2500 to plow snow with and do some chores around the cottage and this fits the bill quite nicely. I'm new to ATVs but have been around motorcycles all my life so I know what to look for in a used machine. A Honda that starts and runs clean is always a good deal. You will never have trouble selling it when the time comes.

I will probably upgrade to a newer post 2000 Honda rancher in the next few years and sell my TRX250 (1985) It runs just as well and looks almost as nice as the 350. Although it's not 4wd, I have a lineup of people who want it for 1700 dollars.

One good thing about older machines is they don't loose their value like a newer mount....LOL

Default 1988-89 fourtrax

i had a 1989 fourtrax 300 2x4. Those things are tanks!! They changed the fourtrax in 1992 I believe. People say there the same but they are NOT!! My 89 was faster than my 1996. I had them both at the same time and would let people drive my new one and I'd fly by them with my old faithful. I hit trees, flooded it in the river so many time and it would still crank up and spit water out the pipe. They hand so well!!! Best atv ever made hands down! If you find one don't pass it by....

I had one for a short period of time as well, mine was a 99. I bought it last year for $800 and it didn't need anything. I'm sure back when this thread first started they were worth a little more but now I think the Rancher 350 has replaced it as the bargain utility Honda quad, of which I also owned. The old 300 was never meant to be fast, the Rancher 350 barely does 50 mph itself. I finally decided I wanted more power and got my current Grizzly. Ill never go back to anything less powerful again.

Its about condition , I have seen 1989 in better shape then 2009s. I live in Canada you can't get a new set of tires for $400 let alone a ATV that runs.

Here is a 86 Honda (top) and a 2005 (Bottom) which one would you buy?
