Wheel Spacers
Ok so I am looking at buying Some wheel spacers fo rmy 400ex. The kind that I am looking at are the ones that are 4 individual spacers that just screw on to the existing hub bolt. I want to go either 3-4 inches wider overall. My question is how trustworthy are these spacers?

Well, im a car and truck guy, but im sure the same rules apply. Think of it as a pencil, when its short, its strong and hard to break, but before it is sharpend and is long. just a little stress and it snaps. Same applies with the wheel studs(possibly your axles depending on tire size.), you will have to buy longer studs, if it is the spacers i am thinking of, it is a round piece of metal that fits over all four studs and is the desiered thickness of the space needed. So, these longer studs will break easier when stressed in mud sand or snow, especially using the spacer to fit a bigger tire. Now, that said, Studs are cheap, lol, and if you need to use spacers to fit a bigger tire and widen your foot print, id say go for it! ...cautiously...

you should look into diamond J' scustoms
they make some SICK wheel spacers
check their site or ebay, they have an ebay store.
Also i saw extended forged aluminum hubs for the 300/400's 100$ a pair shipped on ebay.
Much stronger than what you were first considering, and anout the same price

Hey guys I appreciate the input. And if I do decide to get these spacers I would not go more than 3 inch. here is a link to what i was talking about, should definetly clear things up a little. Again thank you, and any more input you have is much appreciated.

Rear spacers on 400EX will put more stress on axle and rear bearings. Front spacers will increase leverage ratio on shocks and bottom easier. So depending on how you ride you may or may not have any issues. Flat and smooth sliding corners will be an improvement. Side hill stability will be improved. Big air and hard landings will be worse. There is no free lunch.
