Thats funny, around here in our group of 20 or so bikes, 14 hondas (Foremans, Ranchers, trx300's and a Rincon) all start and run easilly in cold weather, and both Grizley 660's and a Griz 600 and a Big Bear 350 are really touchy until warmed up. Jetting changes may make it less cold blodded.

Thats exactly right.... Changing the pilot jet a coupla sizes bigger will cure this. I did it on one of my older recons, but everybody is not able or wanting to do that I imagine.

From what I've read the condition you've described having it stall in gear sounds as though it's
in the transmission. The centrifugal clutch has a one way bearing which will cause the engine to die when placed into gear if it doesn't allow the engine to free wheel at idle, other possibilities being clutch pack is stuck or bad.

Hello,
New to the ATV thing so please forgive me for asking so many questions. I did order a manual last night though.
Anyway...The 1986 4x4 Fourtrax 350 starts fine, idles fine but when it goes into gear it dies. Any ideas?
I would like to add that when it really warms up then it does not die. Carb. related? One guy thinks at work it is electrical. Any comments are appreciated.
Thanks,
Allen

First thing to do with any bike is change the plug. If that doesn't cure it, on EFI bikes check if the EFI warning light is on. If it is, take it to a dealer for diagnostic checks. If the EFI light doesn't stay on, change the fuel filter, and if that doesn't work, clean the filter in the injector out. Not sure about the post 2014 bikes, but pre 14s are a bit tricky, as what I assume to be a servo motor and choke slide have to come out before the injector, and they are delicate. You also need those special Torx bits with the hole in the end to remove the injector.

My 2014 Honda Rancher runs fine until it’s warm.
My 2014 Honda Rancher runs great when it’s cold but as soon as it warms up it will stall when put into gear.
