Question for anyone Who Did the 300ex / Raptor Shock Swap
Hey, I tried doing this last night, what a pain in the ***.... two bolts is all it is, and I had to quit! even had 2 guys helping me.
I have what should be an 01 raptor shock, but the guy I bought it from said it was an 03 (it has remote res tho...)
Anyway, it came with the big fat bushings (whatever they are, that press in each side and the bolt slides thru)
my other friend who is doing this conversion has an 01 rappy shock still sitting in a box, and it has small bushings like the 300ex...
Anyway,
I tried putting it in with the big beefy raptor bushings, From what I can tell, they dont fit, no way no how, too big..
with the 300ex bushings in, it fits, but It seems like its two small now!
The shock isnt flush against the mounting tabs, there is probably 1/16 - 1/8 of an inch of play in there...
I tried putting the top in with 1 of the big bushings, and with no bushings !
(didnt try 300ex bushings, and first, it was damn hard to get the bolt thru, so hard to line things up, but we got it,
But than the shock was cocked to the right, and I couldnt get it in the bottom mount,
This got very tiring after a 10 hr day of work, so I put it down for the night...
I have 3 of the 300ex bushings that I can find.. 2 of the monster raptor bushings ,
and I can snag the ones off the raptor shock my friend has if I need to..
1. Where do I put that dang remote resevoir so It doesnt snap off?
2. What bushings do I use on the top and bottom
3. Should I mount the top or the bottom first
4. Shouldnt this be easy?
5. If I end up with a little clearance between the tabs the the shock, Is this bad?
Should I try to slip a washer in there?
Thank you

Question for anyone Who Did the 300ex / Raptor Shock Swap
I had no problem bolting in the 2001 Raptor shock I bought of ebay, the only thing I did was take it to Rath Racing ( I live close to him) and have it rebuilt, since it was a bit squishy, and had him put a 14" long braided line to the rez, so I could hose clamp it to the frame just below the exhaust can. The only thing I can think of is whoever sold you that shock had different bushings, possibly. Mine was a complete bolt in, but the stock hose is a bit short, so I had that taken care of while it was being rebuilt.
