1984 TRX 200 Pulse generator assembly
I'm a handicapped person and some friends had 1996 Honda TRX 200 that they gave me to get around in the outdoors where my powerchair won't work. I was riding it last week when it made a clicking sound and then just died. After some testing, I opened the DCI cover to find a handful of broken parts. The bolt that holds the pulse rotor and ignition advance mechanism had broken off and the springs were destroyed as well. In my manual, it describes a dowel pin that goes on the crankshaft that aligns with the backside of the pulse rotor. Does anyone have any idea what size this dowel pen is or where I might find one? I don't know if mine fell out with all of the other parts when I removed the pulse rotor or it was destroyed with the other stuff that came apart. The hole in the crankshaft is might shallow, I hope it isn't broken off in there. Also, who might have the best price on the entire pulse rotor assembly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 1984 TRX200 have a little pin that goes in a small hole in the camshaft , it just keeps the advance assy from moving (which will cause the engine to go out of time) .. We've made those pins before in an emergency (it's been a few years) but we made them out of finnish nails I can't remember just what size nails but it was like 2" or 2 1/2" something like that .. The actual dowel pin isn't very big approx. the size of the lead in a pencil and approx. between 1/8 - 3/16" long... Like I said all it does is work like a woodruff key it keeps the advance from turning on the camshaft ..
Here is a pic of the pin..
