That's great if that is what you prefer! Honda's market analysis, indicates that most folks do want an automatic (either from preference or necessity because they just can't figure out a manual), and that is what they are giving them. But, if Honda can't keep the price down, they aren't going to move them no matter what.

But still, I could never recommend an auto to anybody, and I doubt I ever will unless this 420AT transmission turns out to be something special.

For me at this point, it would be the height of stupidity to spend an extra $2,000 for an automatic that I neither need nor want........

There is a lot of good points here. Since I don't need to pull down a house any time soon, I think I will go with the Rancher 4x4, with manual shift.

I have one of those also for my daughter and it is a good strong general purpose bike. You won't be disappointed as long as your not needing to pull any heavy loads or put alot of weight on the rack. Good Luck with it. The most important thing is that you chose a Honda....

The most I will need to haul is camping gear. Keep in mind, I am an ultralite backpacker. Thus, I don't have any issues packing lightly.
