Running Low Viscosity Oils In Your Honda????
I was very surprised to see that my Rancher 420 owner's manual specs 0W30 as an all season oil! Newer model Honda owner's manuals, seem to be specing thinner oils than in the old days. Gone are the really heavy oils from the old days, like 20W40 and 20W50.
Those of you that have other late model Hondas, I am wondering what your owner's manuals are specing?????
Just for the record, I live in So. Calif. where summers are HOT and winters are mild, but we do have mountains where it can be very cold...so I have to deal with extremes sometimes. I am running Redline 10W40 in summer (I never ride during the heat of the day), and 10W30 in winter when I am riding at lower altitudes. In the mountains in winter, I plan to run Maxima 530MX, but I have never been so cold that I have ever run 0W30. In extreme cold, I would probably run Maxima Ultra 0W30.
