Default 300 fourtrax timing mark

"top end rebuild 90 300" On the flywheel there is "T" for tdc and a "F" for fire if I'm correct. It appears this engine has been into before due to lots of silicone on the rocker cover.Anyway I rotated the flywheel to the "T" and the cam gear marks are not level with the head, looks like it is a tooth off,if I put the flywheel on the "F" mark it the cam gear marks are dead level with the head.Which is right,I've always used tdc to set the cam, like I said someone has been in it before and it does not look right to me.I'm planning to pull the head and jug tomorrow or Monday and wanted to be sure as far as the timing. Also the cam lobes should be down and not up when installing correct? Thank's for the imput

Default 300 fourtrax timing mark

it does time on tdc and the marks on the cam dont have to be perfect sometimes off due to timing chain stretch and the cam lobes will point down
