New Honda for my wife
My wife & I trail ride together. I have an 87 250X that runs great and she has an 86 TRX200SX. The problem with hers is the short stiff suspension. She gets pretty beat up hitting bumps and roots. I want to sell it and get her a sport quad with better suspension, longer travel and cushier. I'd like to stay with a Honda but will consider others. I also want to stay 250 or smaller. Any recommendations?

The 250EX is a sweet handling little quad, but its one downfall is that it has limited suspension in the rear, because of the shaft drive design.
If she doesn't mind a full manual clutch, then the 300EX would be a better choice, in terms of ride comfort.
Also, check out the new Yamaha Raptor 250. It should be better than either of the Hondas.

I have quickly seen the 250 Raptor. As far as size, it looks perfect for her. It seems smaller than her quad and maybe it will be really easy for her to throw around. She's only 5-2 and 120 lbs. Maybe I'll look for a used one. Is it a new model or have they been out a few years?

i would say the 300ex I have one and love the cadalack ride and with a little spring adjustment you could tune it in for her and its the same as the 250x execpt plastics and larger stroke and electric start...I also own a 87 250x that i made a shock relocator braket and put a pair of 400ex shocks on and it rides better than my 300

or better yet you ride the 300 and put her on the 250 I love both of mine and at 150 lbs i have full control, if i ride sitting straight up it launches off the line,if i lean back it does perfect wheelies, and if i lean foward a bit and gas it it does peferct coner drifts ..my quads shocks are set full stiff in front and about half settiing in the rear her being 30lbs lighter might like one click softer front and rear but could probaly have a nice ride wiith my setup

The 300EX can cut it. While I wouldn't call it plush, I would certainly call it good suspension. I use to do ridiculous jumps on the little EX, with nothing but stock suspension.
On the other hand, weight means a lot when you are a 120 pound petite woman! The weight difference between an EX and the Raptor is something like 50 pounds. But, no reverse on the Raptor, so that's something to think about too.

No reverse? Hmmmm. Well, I like the light weight of the raptor for her. I think the 300 is too heavy for her. I suppose I could give her the 250 and I get the 300. Gosh darn you guys ! I was hoping for help, not confusion !
