Default Valve adjustment

The other day I adjusted my valves on my 400at. I was reading around on this forum and noticed that some was saying that the filler gauge ought to easily slide back and forth. I noticed that when finished I could still get the filler gauge in after I took it out but it was tight. (Its not like they give you much room to work) Should I readjust them. Everything runs fine but I don't want to burn a valve or something. This was my breakin valve adjustment. Just out of curosity while breaking in does the clearance gap get smaller or bigger. Thanks Brad

I believe the gap gets bigger as things wear. But I think what happened is when you tightened the nut, it moved the adjustmet. You have to set it bigger so when you tighten the nut, it will close the gap to where you want it. It will prolly be ok like it is though.
