biggest tires on a rancher 420
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>i was looking to get a set of 25" tall tires for my rancher 420</end quote></div>
25" tires On a 420cc utility ATV? Most people's 350 4x4 (Bruin, Big Bear,Prairie) utility ATV"s have 25" tires stock and they ask if they can put 26" tires on them ?
The old mid 90's 350 Honda four Trax 4x4 had 25 " tires from stock ,what is Honda doing by putting little 24" tires 2 ply on there new 420 in the first place.?
Are those the same tires 24" found on the 250 Recon?
If the 420 cant handle 25" tires than sell it it.

i noticed that alot of the older hondas had factory 25" tires and i was wondering why the new ranchers came with the 24s. i just wasnt to sure on how it would effect the power of the machine because it has a higher gear ratios than the older quads. i really with it had the first gear of my 1988 350d 4x4, that was the best wheeler we ever owned

i think they did it to make it feel more like a sport quad, have less weight, like i said i went to 25 inch radial tires, im getting a better ride, with maybe just a pinch of low power loss, nothing i can realy tell, i have plenty of low power to go over the trails, pull, logs etc. i didnt buy a 420 rancher to go through a 6ft mudbogg.

I think Honda just likes to be cheap with tires for cost reasons, they even put cheap light duty 2plys tires on there 500 and 680 Utility ATVs. When was 25" tires even considered large? 25" tires were just what you got from stock at one time and never considered a great size for serious mudding.

I believe it has to do with importation taxes which are based on vehicle weight. Lighter tires and wheels equal higher profits. At least that is what the Polaris salesman told me.
When I swapped out my OEM tires and wheels for 25" TerraCross radials and ITP steel wheels the weight difference was amazing. All four Honda OEM wheels and tires were much lighter by at least 60 to 75 pounds.
