Default 300ex rear sprocket

I have a 01 300ex, basically stock. Just replaced the rear stock tires with holeshot (22-11-9). I was thinking of replacing the rear sprocket with one that has 2 extra teeth. I want the low end grunt and I ride tight trails so speed in not necessary. But Iam not shure what to expect for the loss on the top end. Would it be safe to assume that a rear sprocket with 2 extra teeth I would loose 5-8 mph? Thanks.

A better, and cheaper way to go is a 12 tooth in the front. This will reduce speed and give more low end than going 2 more teeth in the rear. Also, the larger in the rear will be more likely to get damaged than a smaller in the front.

That was my other thought. If I were too switch to a 12T front, are there any issues with stress on the tranny? How much would a 12T sprocket slow down the quad? Any quesstimates. Thanks for the input.

Here's a chart. You are at 13/38 now which is a ratio of 2.92:1. The best I can figure is that it might slow it down 2 mph. I put a 12 T front on mine and liked it so much I never went back. One thing you'll need to do after you put the 12 T on is to check that the chain doesn't hit the bolts or thing that holds the sprocket on. I needed to file mine a tad.
