1994 Honda 300 4 x 4
I am looking at this quad to buy.
The good:
It is in great shape except for the seat. It has a warn winch. It has the warn 4-2-4 on it.
The bad:
It is 18 years old and parts may be hard to come by. I am concerned about the snorkel (where has it been?) and the 26" tires. Those seem pretty big for a 300 and I'm concerned the tranny has been overworked turning those tires.
The reason I want it is because I want to move into a 4wd. I have a Recon now that I love but I get into some situations where I need 4wd or I end up being pulled out by my friends.
The guy wanted $2500, which is WAYYY outta line IMO. He is now down to $2000 but IMO this is still too high. I'm thinking $1500 max. What do you guys think?
More info: I have been looking for a 4wd for some time now and would like to stay under $3,000. I know this means I'd have to buy an older quad, which I don't have a problem with as long as it's a good one that has been taken care of. OTOH, maybe I should just suck it up and buy a newer Rancher. It's not like I DON'T have the money. It's more that I just don't want to spend it on a toy that I only use 3 or 4 times a year.

$2500 for a 94 300TRX is nuts even in Canada. But those are expensive rims and tires.
He sure has it decked to mud ride but by the looks of it he did not get around to it. Very hard to mud ride with a ATV and keep the ATV looking new.
26" tires are to big for a 300 4x4 (282cc to be exact) with no low range. Even my friends 660 Grizzly lost perforemance when he went to larger 26" tires.
Hard to say, maybe buy it and those wheels will sell easy to a person with a 500 Foreman 680 Rincon who has the power to turn them.
Those wheels should sell for $500 but then again you would have to look for a new set to replace them.
The ATV came stock with Front: 23 x 8-11
Rear: 25 x 11-9
26" by much wider is quite the leap in size and weight for that ATV.

I always buy used ATVs and use the link you can get side by side specs of any two ATVs to compare. Like this 1999 Honda FourTrax 300 ATVs
Most of all you get actual "owner" reviews where the tell there likes or dislikes and rate the ATV out of 1-5 stars. Like this Vehicle Reviews for 2001 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. Its the reson I bought a 2001 and not the 2005 with this reviews Vehicle Reviews for 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O.
Very handy when shopping used. They sure like the 300 but the site only goes from 1999 and up. Vehicle Reviews for 1999 Honda TRX300FW
