Ok I appreciate that info and I seen bikes smoke when they get on the gas but never only smoke when letting off its let it's just sucking extra fuel in the exhaust but then again ether valve steams leaking oil or idk just hoping wasn't a big deal

I had a 2001 450ES Foreman that acted up once in awhile, and removing and cleaning the fuses from under the seat and reinstalling them would fix it up.

Also the battery must be a good one for the E.S to work.

I never needed to change the fuses but by removing them and reinstalling them it seemed to reset the E.S shifter some how.

A few things I left out on the es was the manual shift works fine but I hear no noise at all from the electric motor or anything my display shows 1st and 5th on I get (--) in 2nd 3rd and 4th
My 1999 just started with the Shift issue like this with the -- in the display and no sound from the shift motor when the buttons are pressed. I downloaded the PDF service manual and it has a whole section dedicated to the ES ATV not shifting. One step is to check the Angle Sensor's resistance as it's POT is turned.

My Neutral Resistance is 4.87ohms and within their good range of 4-6ohms. But then you check the other 2 pins(BG/YR) and my resistance is changing way over the range they say it's suppose to be. According to the formula your shift up resistance / the neutral resistance(4.87) < .4 well that would put in the range of 2-3 ohms, but mine is in the K ohms range. I go from a low of 129ohms to 5.5K ohms. So I'm trying to find from a service dept what they are seeing in a new Angle Sensor for a low-high Ohm reading.
