Default 2000 Honda fourtrax not starting

Hi everyone!

My 2000 Honda fourtrax 4x4 isn't starting. I put a new battery in it last week. When I push the start button, it doesn't make a sound. No power is getting to the starter when the button is pushed. Power is getting to the opposite post of the solenoid when the button is pushed. The headlights come on. I have grounded out the neutral switch also. I'm lost on this one. Any help is much appreciated!

THanks!

Sorry but this does not add up, for power to get to the opposite side of the solenoid the solenoid will have to be making a click, so making a sound. Assuming you are referring to the starter side of the solenoid, as the battery side is live all the time whether you press the button or not. If the solenoid is clicking, put a fairly high wattage test lamp between the starter side of the solenoid and earth, press the starter button, if the lamp lights, your starter is faulty, probably needing new brushes.

If the solenoid isn't clicking, check the red/yellow wire to it is live when you press the starter button, and that the pale green/red is earthed when you are in neutral. If both of these are OK you have a faulty solenoid.
