1987-1988 Honda Fourtrax 125 CDI
So you all are tracking the GY6 CDI (scooter) will work for the 1987-1988 TRX125, reverse light will stay on.
You just have to swap around the white/black and red/black 2 plug going to the cdi. Pin outs are swapped. The 4 plug can remain the same.
The black/red is ac power and the white/black is the kill switch. I just did mine last night! Cost me a total of 5 bucks.
Make sure you get an AC GY6 CDI.

GY6 for 87 honda trx125
I know this is an older thread, but I just purchased a 1987 honda trx125 and it ran fine for about an hour and then died... now I have no spark. I was trying to find a reasonably priced CDI replacement and came across this thread.
Is this known to work for sure ? Are there any other side effects (other than the reverse light staying on) ?

I've since sold that ATV. Go ahead and try it, you have nothing to loose

Got new CDI... I tried plugging it in without swapping wires and I still get no spark. I have a new ignition coil coming in tomorrow, hopefully that will fix the problem. If not, I guess I'll try and swap the wires for the CDI and see if that makes a difference.
And if none of that works.... guess I'll try the kill switch or stator next....grrrrr.......

You must swap the wire positions in the plug. The new CDI is wired backwards from the original. If I remember correctly the kill is wired wrong. So that is why you need to flip them as decribed in my first post.

Help!
I recently acquired a Honda trx 125 and it has no spark so I grounded out the neutral safety switch and the neutral light came on, but it still has no spark, I read something that said if you cut the wire from the cdi that tells the ignition not to spark the it would fix this but they didn't specify with wire it is, do you guys know whitch one it is???
