Default honda rancher 420 electrical/starting problem

I'm new to the forum, hopefully someone out there can help with my problem. My 2008 rancher 420ES is acting like there is a dead battery, lights on dash flickering, clicking noise when pushing the start button, but here is the twist. I hooked it up to a jump starter and it started and ran fine but when I disconnected the jump starter it died. I left it hooked up and running for about 10 minutes and had the same result. I then installed a new battery and had the same results again. What am I missing?

If the bike ran with a battery charger connected, your existing battery must have been flat. or the terminals on the battery not connecting properly. It is surprising how often this happens. However the quad should continue to run with the charger off, as alternator power is fed to the CDI and fuel system, so your charging system may be faulty. However Honda being Honda, they have complicated the charging system which now has two regulators and a relay which may alter things. A new fully charged battery should have got the machine running, even if not charging, so those terminals could well be the culprits.

This is the first time this has occurred. All of the terminals were checked, as well as the ground wires to the engine. It sounds like the charging system may be my problem.
