Default Need help 2002 Recon 350

Hi guys. looking at a 02 recon that has a motor seized on it.
Guy said it locked up going down a hill. Tore top end off and said their is a washer or bearing on the crank that needs replaced. I don't know if it is a
thrush washer or crank bearing? Any ideas? He said he tried to pull recoil
start and the cord would not even move, but when trying the key would turn
very hard. He said part was 50.00. Any ideas are welcome. It's has a 350
motor. Thanks in advance

What 350 engine does it have? Honda Rancher 350? or 2cycle or 4 cycle?

Waiting for phone call to see if rod and crank is turning free.
will find out which motor? Does Honda not make a 2002 recon es
with a 350, or is it a 250?

The recon has always been a 250. I am skeptical the e start can turn it over but it can't be done by the pull start, unless that is seized up on its own too(which is possible) If the crank bearing has gone bad, the case needs split to replace it. That may be a $50.00 part, but you aren't done there. The crank itself will need to be checked, and probably replaced. If you are paying someone to do it, it is going to be a few hours labor, better to have all fresh parts. Usually best to stick with oem stuff on these I feel.

Yup, unfortunate but that is why I always snicker a little inside when an add says "just needs a $50.00 part." If that was the case, then it would be fixed and for sale at a higher price. Either the price to fix is much higher, or they are trying to hide other issues by having the machine be inoperable.

One thing about buying non running used ATVs is they are sold cheap enough to be parted out to get your money back or more. Does not take many parts on Ebay to get $500 back.

I don't mine buying used but I'm after a 3500 deal if the machine new is 7000. In that used price range group the ATV will run correctly on a test ride even if its just down the street.

I just skip the ads in the under $1000 range.
