Default 400ex carb to intake boot

Hey guys / gals I just bought a 2000 400ex and it had sat awhile so I wanted to clean the carb , when I went to pull it off the rubber intake boot came with it . It appears to be a two piece boot part aluminum and part rubber . 1st question is it ok if the rubber comes off the aluminum and if so when I reinstall it do I put any sealer on that .? I noticed the newer 400ex s have a rubber boot that's one piece is this a better design ? thanks in advance Ohio Bob

i didnt apply sealer just make sure your hose clamps are nice and tight because i actually lost mine deep in the woods and it was gone forever haha so no sealer because if when you put it on and it deteriorates over time you dont want that going into your cylinder

You might have a 450r carb on the ex. The mod required an aluminum adapter.
