1985 Suzuki LT230GE
I bought a 1985 Suzuki LT230GE recently and It wouldn't run so I took the carb off and cleaned it, and now it runs and idles fine but after a few minutes of running the atv dies and gas starts coming out of the carb overfill line, and after a few mins when gas quits dripping out of the overfill it will start and run fine again? Is this just a needle issue?

Hey there scott leigh. A bad needle valve in my experience, would genreally leak non stop out the drain. This model uses a fuel pump and I am suspicious if that may be acting up? Changing the needle valve out can't hurt though. They are generally cheap enough, and the rubber could have become hard enough that it doesn't seal well.

wouldnt hurt to add a fuel filter in line with the carb supply line. that will cause problems too, letting small pieces of garbage in the bowl, plugging the jets. my 85 honda fourtrax didnt have one nor did my 96 yah timberwolf. i went to orielly's and got the red plastic lawnmower filter. works like a charm.
stay away from ethanol fuel, it hardens the rubber seats/seals in the carbs.
