Have you tried polishing the slide bore? If you have access to a dremel it's a 15min job...might solve all your problems...

I'll drill my old slide and just cut a inch off the spring- what should I polish the slide bore with? I have valve lapping compound- or some say use 2k gritt sandpaper?

I'd just head to HD and get a polishing kit for a Dremel...it comes with compound and applicators...the carb is aluminum...so you could also hand polish with any decent aluminum compound as well...

carb polished, slide drilled to 1/16th and 1" of the spring cut its now rideable but still not carburating perfectly- but no longer stalling! Low speed misfires as the slide is not raising as needed

And the rubber diaphragm is completely free of holes (held up to bright light)...right?

I've seen new ones come with holes...

Pull the air box off and look inside the throat of the carb (may need a mirror). Start it and leave it in neutral, when you give it gas does the slide move up properly? If not you have a vacuum leak somewhere in the carb not allowing the slide to raise correctly.

I'll take a look at both- this problem surfaced after getting high centered on a fallen tree in 2' of deep snow and the quad wheel hopped hard-

No holes, everything looks perfect- haven't checked with a mirror but today it ran so terrible it was hard to get back to the house! Iv pretty much had it, does anyone know if the 2006+ ve6da b carb is a direct bolt on replacement for my older Rubicon that has the VE6AB B?

Check to make sure the slides moving up prior to doing anything major.

When you were high centered could you have pinched wires or ruined a sensor?

everything looks perfect, super smooth- glides up and down like silk. If i spray it with silicone i can buy a few minutes of perfect running- seems everyone has issues with the 01-03 rubi carbs that is why Im thinking about buying a 2007 36mm Rubicon carb- (vs the 33mm used on the 01-03 rubi's) as they are only $180 new online and i checked service Honda, same part numbers on the airbox and intake side boot's that the carb fits into- so as long as the TPS sensor plug hasn't changed im golden!
