Juggalo, your EX only hit 84? My monkey's uncle's EX hit 92 after some quick mods.
1) There are 2 bolts on the top of that thing that your shock is connected to. TAKE THESE OUT. This will give you an added 5-6HP.
2) On top of your cylinder, there's a black wire that has a cap on it, and it fits on top of the dipstick. Take the cap off, and get a crescent wrench, and unscrew that dipstick. If there is oil on the bottom of the dipstick, you're okay, but if it's not, go to your kitchen and get some PAM, and spray into the dipstick hole until your dipstick is wet. It might take 5-6 bottles.
After you do this, you will be hitting 90-92mph, and running 175HP

Went for a look at the new Yellow 400EX. I see you have a non/matching helment like me and that means you have been around the block a few times and thats a good thing. Poor ben who has the red 400EX. He needs the new and much improved yellow 400EX. Don't forget to change you oil and filter after a couple of hours. Be very careful with that new ex, they have the uncanny ability to make you want to spend money on aftermarket parts and upgrades. It kind of becomes addicting after a while. I am currently in the 3 step process to stop spending money on my new ex:
Step 1: Wife finds new Pro Circuit Pipe at the door. I can't explain how it got there, but remarkably it is for a 400ex.
Step 2: Wife adds up how much I have spent in the last six months.
Step 3: Wife makes me promise to stop spending money on this machine for awhile (like that will happen
Enjoy your new ride
