Bent axel on 250ex!!

Durablue makes an Eliminator 2+2 for the 250EX.
FYI. Some, if not all, Durablues for the 250EX have a slight machining problem. The axle nut threads on my Durablue stopped 5/8" too far away from the thrust collar, making it impossible to torque down the axle nuts. Durablue claimed I was only the second customer to enquire about this mistake. They told me I had to go buy a 5/8" spacer. Not being one that particularly enjoys paying full price for improperly macined part, I called around to several Durablue parts distributers to see if they had a one that was propperly machined. All of them were kind enough to pull the Durablues off their shelf and measure them for me. Unfortunately, all of theirs were just like the one I received.
If you decide to purchase a Durablue for a 250EX, pull YOUR axle out and measure the distance from the thrust collar to the inside edge of the threads for the axle nuts (I would tell you the distance but I can't remember). Then before you place the order, ask the salesperson to make the same measurement on the Durablue and compare them. If your lucky, you'll find one that matches. Otherwise you'll have to do what I did. I made a trip to my local tractor supply store and purchased a (if I remember correctly) 1 1/4" I.D. by 5/8" locking collar to use as a spacer, inside the first axle nut. It only costs a couple bucks and seems to be working just fine.

AlexiZ400 - Durablue claims it is stronger and it comes with Durablue's standard "Lifetime" warranty. Only time will tell.
250EXRiderJamie - I bought one through Carbide's Motoworld for $289.99+S&H. Most ATV parts dealers that sell Durablue products offer them for the 250EX. They just might not have them in stock.
