OUR 400EX sales are low and the Z400s come and go from the showroom.

Honda is anouncing their second phase of 2003 models and "sneak peeks" at some POSSIBLE 2004 models at the dealer show in September.

As I said here a month ago, our Honda sales rep says that one new model is a sportquad, but doesn't know if it's going to be an '03 or a sneek peek 2004. Much like they did with the Rincon 650 last year.

I don't know if any of you recall, but at the 1999 dealer show, they had a utility vehicle there similar to the Kawasaki Mule. It was supposed to start production in 2000.........It never came.

They had a TRX200X at the dealer show in 1992 that was supposed to be released as a 1993 model. It never came. Instead they modified a TRX250X and called it a 300EX.

Also in 1992, they showed a TRX90....it actually came the following year.

I guess all this means is that nothing can be assured until it rolls off the assembly line.

<< Yeh, I think this is all true, my local honda dealership the biggest in Australia told me just recently(like last week) that honda has been testing a aluminium framed sportrax with the CRF450 engine in it, he said that they have been testing it against the cannondale and said that the cannondale was a little faster but the Honda handled a lot better stock for stock. This is the owner of the dealership that told me this and this guy is allways flying to Honda in Japan. When he first told me i said stop crapping on to me and he was very offended by my comments, he then said that honda has built this machine to dominate the racing scene for the next ten years. >>

They've also had a 650ex in R&D for.....about 3 years. They have to do something. Honestly if it was me, I'd drop the 300ex, keep the 400ex, add a 650ex with reverse to compete with the Raptor and DS, and add either a 450ex or 500ex in a racing chassis. The 400ex has it's limits on a track. It takes too much money for my likings to bring it up to "race standards".

Fingers are crossed, I want wings on the side of my quad again.....

i would love to c the crf but i hope they bring it down to a 440 for the ama standerds i also would like to c the 650

but dont drop the 300 ex you still need a small sport ride

and if they do come out with the 450 odds are they will drop the ex which meens many used ones up for sale and yet another huge drop in used prices for a 400 ex

You guys are talkin about why things should be changed so it would work better on the track but yall must have Honda confused with Cannondale. When it comes to a hi-per quad from the Jap companies, you might as well completely erase the thought of racing out of your mind because they don't want to have anything to do with quad racing.

Hey jug,

I know which TRX200X you are referring to, I have seen pictures of that one before, but this is not the same quad. The one that honda produced in Mexico for one model year was just the three wheeler with a "4 wheeler kit" added to the front end. It even kept the ATC200X steel fuel tank.

I still have a picture that was taken at the dealer show back then. this thing had a plastic design that blows everything else away. Looked like it was from 20 years into the future, and it looked good.
If I had a scanner, I would send you a pic.

KNOWSALOT,

I know exactly which picture of the TRX200X prototype that you are talking about. It looked sexy as all hell. It would have been the ultimate trail/play quad. I was actually hoping that is what Honda would have came out with instead of the 250EX. Not that I would have sold my 250R for such a machine, but damn, it sure would be fun to hop on once in awhile.

Every now and then I think of building myself another 200X fourwheeler for a play toy. They're not powerful, not even that well suspended, but they sure are fun! Now that Honda has released the CRF230F, I've played with the idea of pulling that engine and throwing it into a 200X chassis. The CRF230F is the same basic engine as the XR200R, which is the same (almost) as the last generation of 200X engines ('86/'87), but the CRF230F has a nice little bump in displacement. Same weight, more power... fun fun fun... I need to get back to work... lol...
