To me the key is momementum and keeping high RPM's. And I would think 2wd would be better. You wouldn't be wasting power going to the front wheels and be able to keep higher rpm's. If you feel the rpm's dipping and the engine bogging down, shift down. If you lose control or feel the front end flipping on you, let off the gas and grab both your brakes.
Final key is standing up and leaning forward on your quad. This will allow you to absorb uneven terrain better and keep your front end down. Again, speed is key... you almost have to dedicate yourself to go all the way without hesitation. Do it a few times and you'll get your confidence...

Have you seen any 01 Raptors climbing the hills backwards yet.
Now that takes skill and you don't flip over.
You just pin the throttle and you need a good set of yamaha street bike rear view mirrors so you don't take your eyes off of them and just don't look back.
