400EX vs. Scrambler 400
#5
Stock vs Stock I do not know.I have never had any thing major wrong with my Sport400L(2wd Scrambler).I did just have to rebuild the engine, but that is because I did not secure the airbox to the carb and i melted the piston.I ride with and of course race 400exs eveyweekend.Handling is hands down 400ex all the way.In dirt and sand drags I stomp 400exs on a regular basis. The big 2 stroke is very responsive to upgrades. It comes down to which is more important;Light wieght and ease of handling,or a awesome white knuckle straight line runner.Either way you will enjoy.
Get a Honda and eveybody loves you,get a polaris and the bashing begins.

The only knock I have against the scrambler is that it is very heavy, so it doesn't fly very well. The auto clutch works for some people and doesn't for others. I prefer a manual clutch but don't mind riding our trailblazer either. If you do any jumping at all you will be much happier with the ex. You can probably get a good deal on one now too.

I recently switched from a Polaris Sport to a Honda 400EX. I never had a single problem with the Sport, but I am much happier with the EX. You can't even begin to compare the differences in handling. If you are going to spend all of your time riding in a straight line, and want to get there maybe a half of a quad length faster, get the Scrambler. If you plan on making one or more turns while riding, get the EX, hands down.
