2 stroke break in period. .?
#1
Well I have broke in 4 strokes but never a fresh 2 stroke, everything is new in the motor...I have heard that on 4 strokes dont g much over 1/2 throttle and such but on a 2 stroke it's kinda hard to not go over 1/2 throttle...I paid alot for the motor so I want to do this right. How long and what should I do ?
Thanks, KILLER

Killer, the average I hear for two strokes is 1-2 tanks of gas (mix a little rich).
You can go over 1/2 throttle no problem, just be sure to do it in bursts. I hear that you should drive it pretty much how you would drive normally with just a few little rules. Don't stay at a single speed for along period of time (slow or fast). Be sure to let it warm up properly (which you already know). Oh, and take plug readings frequently at first. Also, after you ride for a while you'll want to make sure your head bolts are still torqued properly (as well as the motor mounts if they pulled it).
Good luck with your R.

I had LRD build a motor, the breakin oil they sent with it is Dumonde Tech. This is the breakin procedure from the directions on the bottle.
Use a cooling fan with plenty of airflow
Richen the carb settings
Run engine for 30 seconds at idle, stop and let cool completely
Run engine for 2 sessions of 2 minutes each, let cool in between sessions
Run engine at low rpm's or at idle for 2 sessions of 5 minutes each letting cool in between.
Run engine for one 20 minute session with the rpm's at 2000 to 2500 to allow for hydro dynamics to occur. Let engine cool completely
Ride quad under light load conditions accelerating and decelerating for 20 minutes, let cool completely.
Retorque head
Accumulate 1 1/2 to 2 hours ride time with light loads then
Rejet to proper settings

I agree with Piranha. I let my engine warm up at idle, mixed rich, larger jets, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE RADIATOR FULL. Shut it off and let cool, torque head nuts when cool (21-22ft/lbs). Start again and warm, put in second gear and spend 2 minutes with burst (2-3seconds) of full throttle. Let cool/torque nuts. Third gear, three minutes of burst of full throttle. Forth gear, four minutes, etc. Then ride it like normal.

KILLER250R,
Your paycheck is in the mail. Job well done running those communists out of the east coast KNOWSALOT FACILITY.
First hour of operation is so important to the life of the motor, run the engine at low and moderate(rpm)if you do nothing else.
The slow riding at first may cause the spark plug to foul. So expect it.
