Like many of you , I was shocked to see no new sport quad. I admit I was expecting a 650 EX based on the proven XR650r, but thought there would at least be a reworked 400EX. I am ashamed to admit that I stayed up late thinking there must be some mistake. Well, I have a theory...It may sound crazy, but I believe there is a 440 EX and it was going to be released only to be killed (or delayed) at the last minute. Here is why I think it might be true:
There was a post from someone named "sknaus" entitled "Here ya go, 440EX" On it was a link called "440EX" If you hover over it the actual link says
http://preview.hondamotorcycles.com/...elId=TRX440EX3
The ASP means that there was an Active Sever Page called MODEL and that there was a model id TRX440 and a Model Name SportTrax440 for model year 04. I manually plugged this in and instead of saying "Page doesnt exist" or "failed to connect", I get a REDIRECT to the newly created Honda preview page! The 2 I.P. adress 205.188.146.146 and 164.109.25.207 also redirect, which means that someone intentionally put those IPs (and the URL with the 440ex in it) and manually linked them to the new preview page. Why? Two possibilities: 1. There was some last minute flaw that was a show stopper or 2. Having it as an 04 was a bad move and they decided to make it a late 03 and spring it on us sometime in the near future after fixing all the 04 references to 03. Maybe I'm crazy but there is something fishy here. Maybe someone who knows more about the Ip adresses can help verify this..Sorry for the long post.

Yes, Im sorry to say bro, but your digging into this a bit too deep. Honda isnt going to come out with anything of the sort for a long time. Maybe in a few years, you'll see a Honda 416EX, with reverse to "stun" the market

Right...

Probably right guys,It just bugs me that that link was created ,then delinked. We may not know for some time. At least Cannondale is listening....and in a big way. They are coming up in the rear view mirror-FAST. The quality of those things gives me goose bumps. That's what I'm shooting for.

Cannondale?? Are they still in business?? I hope their quads are better than that flop of a dirt bike they made! Who can afford one of them anyway?

Very interesting. Even if it turns out to be just wishful thinking, it's still interesting.

Moto,

Cannondale isn't in any financial trouble. They just got a 25 million dollar infusion. As far as the Bikes are concerned you should read some of the reviews. Most of the people that own them, love them. Most owners also state that they spend less on the cannondales then on the honda to make it race ready.

I really think that was just someone messing with us. I think he just typed that to get everyone wound up.

On a side note, the new Cannondale bikes are strong. The 03's are going to be a bike to reckon with. I rode one and it is real close to the CRF now. I bet it will be able to run with one now. And they shaved off 15 lbs.

A Cannon running with a CRF450? Dude, that sounds like Cannondale's wet dream. I haven't seen a Cannon that will hang with a CRF450, maybe if the Red rider sux. I know the Cannons are fast but not that fast. I own a CRF450 Lonestar Quad and it hauls so much azz sometimes it has to make 2 trips!
