Matches, lighter, fire starter or Fritos Corn Chips, knife, sharpener, map, compass, and gps if driving in on the quad. Also, enough snacks to last at least a few hours. I like mixing in peanuts with Hershey's Cookies and Cream drops. Water, water, water.

Some paper to wipe my butt, a compass, and a loud whistle. Maybe some water. I always have a lighter and knife on me.

Forgot about the therapeutic papers (TP). I usually have some gun or another with me so I don't need the whistle. Think I have one though in my fender bag. Got home from a ride last year and discovered it was open and I lost almost everything in it. Binoculars, spark steel, etc.

I always carried some paper towels and in later years I put them in a Ziploc bag. Soggy paper isn't any good if it rains. I used to carry fire starters in another bag too. They were made of something like paraffin and sawdust. I had the strike anywhere kitchen matches, which I haven't seen in a long time, in a water tight container. I haven't hunted in years and it's hard to remember this stuff. I know I didn't take a lot. If you do get a whistle to signal with get the pea-less kind that doesn't have any moving parts.

If I hunt in the US I'm usually on my own hunting land and never further than 1/2 mile (straight line) from the road so I don't need much more than ammo, water, warm cloths, and TP. The ATV is seldom more than a dozen yards away.

If I am hunting overseas I'm paying someone else to worry about all the above!!!!
