Default Speedometer Kit for 4010 Trans 4X4

The Speedometer Kits (99999-0242) for 2009 Mule Trans 4X4 (Gas) have finally hit the market, but beware. The kit is similar to those for the 3010, but the speedo mounts into a hole in the dash. The cable routing is pretty much the same. You need small hands to do the install and my kit came without instructions. The speedo cable is long enough for the single seat 4000 series, but is about 12" too short for the two seat Trans 4x4. I have contacted the dealership and Kawasaki, but haven't received a solution..... the solution is a longer cable.

Default 2009 Mule Speedometer Update

Kawasaki made things right with my problem. The original speedometer kit (Model 99999-0242) for the 2009 Mule came with a cable designed to fit the 4010 (Single Seat), but that was about 8" too short for the 4010 Trans (Two seat). While instructions were few and sketchy, the install is doable for a basic mechanic. Since I bought two, here's one for sale:
-----------------------------------------------------------
FOR SALE:
New OEM SPEEDOMETER WITH PROPER CABLE (you specify) for either the 2009 KAWASAKI MULE 4010 OR 4010 TRANS 4X4. $190 gets complete kit, including shipping within the continental US (Kit 99999-0242) and instructions.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Additional information:

(My local dealership wanted $219 for the kit and another $190 to install it. Check with your dealership to see if you can make a better deal).

As things turned out, I ended up with a complete spare new speedometer kit for the 2009 Mule 4010 or 4010 Trans 4x4, if anyone is interested. (Parts are still in sealed packets). I'll send better instructions than those provided by Kawasaki...in fact I will preassemble the assembly on request. It originally took me about 4 hours to get things right because I was flying blind. Tools needed for install: Phillips, Screwdriver, electric drill and bits, metric sockets (8 & 10mm).

If no purchaser by 09/01/09, I will install it on my other mule.

Jim
