3010 Mule Transmission Problem
Hi, all. I'm new here to the forums, although I've been a 3010 4x4 owner for nearly 10 years.
To date, the mule has run flawlessly. I don't use it much anymore, and it sat around for nearly a year without use. I had to replace the fuel pump a month ago, and today while my daughter and a friend were driving it, it stopped "going".
I drove out to where it broke down and raised the back to make sure the linkages were all okay. They are both connected and move freely... too freely in a way. They use to require a tad bit of effort switching gears.
I know very little about these things mechanically, but it looks like it has some type of centrifugal clutch/torque converter on the side. One thing that has been occurring is the acceleration has been very jerky as of late, kind-of like a belt slipping. It happens especially at lower RPM's. Thus, my first thought is that a drive belt has broken. So, is that in fact a drive belt under the casing on the left side, and if the drive belt is broken, would it make the gears shift effortlessly?
I may be completely off-track, so any input would be greatly appreciated!
