Bayou 220 heat problems
I'm having heat problems with my 2000 Bayou 220. I lose power as soon as the engine starts getting hot and it gets hot often at trail speeds. Today it refused to start until it cooled off. I had some success getting it cooler by using a synthetic blend oil made by Honda. The problem with that was that my engine starting making a noise when I used that oil.
Is there a particular oil that would work best at dealing with heat and not cause me problems? What about an aftermarket oil cooler? I know Perma Cool (http://www.perma-cool.com) claims to make a cooler that works with Kawasaki ATV's. I emailed them to see if they work with the Bayou but they haven't had time to respond yet.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem or does anyone know of a good aftermarket add-on oil cooler kit for my bike?
