I have had my prairie for quite some time now and realized that I have never changed the oil on it yet ( I don't ride very often). What kind of oil should i use for it? I know I can use the kawi branded one but that's too expensive. Is there something I can pickup at walmart? Second of all, what kind of maintenance should I do on it if it has ~800 miles?
Also, while out riding last weekend for a couple of hours, the engine oil temp light kept on flashing at me. So, I turned off the atv for a little bit before I kept riding. Coming back home I noticed that the engine was smoking? I looked like some oil spilled over from somewhere and I was thinking it might be the coolant because it is at maximum level! What kind of coolant should I use in it?
Lastly, every so often, while starting from a stop, my belt will sqeak a little. Is it time for a new belt, or does it need adjusting? Any how-to's on that?
Thank you
I can help ya with the belt. The belt is loose. If i were you, i would just go ahead and change it even though a simple adjustment is probally needed. To do the belt maintenence, go to nyrocatv.com and go to the tech tips section under prairie for everything you need to know about the belt and so on.
