Default LT 80 Front Clutch drive Sheave

What is happening to my daughters front clutch. I had to replace the aluminum sheave twice this season. It seems that the metal crankshaft strips out the notches on the plate. Any suggestions why this is occurring? The nut is tight when I take the cover off.

Are you talking about the fixed sheave or the inside sheave that houses a keyed plate w/sliders on it?

I'm talking about the outside fixed sheave.

What year is your quad?Do you know if you have the short spacer or long spacer? In what order is everything being put on the front crank shaft?I fixed one a while back that was ripping out the keyed plate and it was because they were using a long spacer and 2 washers.

Depending on the year of motor you should have the entire front clutch assembly followed by a thick washer, the "fixed face", a conicle shaped washer then the nut followed by the oil pump drive gear. If you have the " longer insert then there will be no larger washer. The best way to tell is to put it all together and the fixed face should be tight. If there is even a little play it will do one of two things. It will luckily only strip the splines on the fixed face. The other more devastating issue will strip the splines on the crankshaft rendering it useless. Hope this helps
