Default LT80 or LT50 questions

Hi all, new here.

I'm actively looking for a small quad for my 5-yr-old daughter. After doing lots of reading, I'm starting to lean toward the Suzuki LTs.

My daughter is petite, and a little scared of riding an ATV on her own. Would the LT50 or LT80 be a better choice? I'd like it to last her at least 2-3 years.

Does anyone make a foot-bed kit for these quads? What I mean by that is the foot area on many quads that spans the area between the fenders so their feet won't slip off.

What should I be looking to pay for either an LT50 or LT80 in decent shape? There is an 1986 LT50 near me listed for $700 and a 2001 LT80 for $1000. Are these reasonable prices? How accurate are KBB/NADA values, as they are quite a bit lower for these machines?

Thanks for any help!

IMO, Your daughter is too small and inexpierienced for a LT80.
The prices you mentioned are fair.

I would agree…even on the LT50 especially since you mentioned that she is still a little scared of riding on her own. Have you considered an electric 4-wheeler just to get her used to it? My daughter (turns 5 this year) loves hers. Probably won't move her up for another couple summers but that's mostly because I'm too lazy to have to maintain yet another gas-powered toy…LOL

I know they make floorboards for lt90s not sure on 50 or 80 though. The prices all depend on condition. IMO, If they need next to nothing, I think the prices as you list them are fair asking prices.

Thanks for the info, gents. I took her to look at a little Chinese 50 quad, and after some coaxing, she did pretty well on it. Though it just fit her now, she'll outgrow it in 1 summer. We also looked at an Eton 90, which was a little big and a little fast for her now. This is why I'm looking at the LT50.

Here's another question - would you go with a 1986 LT50, or a 2001-ish polaris 50? The polaris will be a little more money.

They do hold on to them like precious gems. The lt 80 might seem big for your daughter, u might call the guy with the Lt 80 take her to see if she can touch the the pegs sitting down and hold the handlebars without leaning over the tank too much. I've put two of my three grandsons on a Lt 80 at five and they are and were very short for their age. I just set the throttle limit screw to a point where giving it gas it's just enough to make it move and stay on flat ground, I would walk backwards in front of them getting them to come to me teaching them to give it gas and let off getting them to turn in tight areas and around obstacles. It's a trying and fun experience but well appreciated when they learn to ride confidently by themselves

Well, I ended up getting the 1986 LT50. It's perfectly-sized for my daughter right now, and should last her the next 2 summers.

It ran well when I went to buy it. Now I have my daughter putting around the cul-de-sac, and it's bogging down at part throttle. Anyone know what might cause this?
