I purchased a Eton 90 with reverse for my daughter. I know the ignition switch is bad. I disconnected the switch at the plug. If I put a jumper wire from the red to the brown and hit the start button the motor will turn over but I have no spark at the plug. Is this because of the ignition switch or should there be spark at the plug when I do this?

 

On all quads with ac ignition the switch has to be wired up as the red side only works the battery operated stuff, starter, lights etc. The other side is the kill switch for the CDI.
