Default Ported cylinder with Honda piston - LT80

Hi

Just bought a used ported cylinder with a piston on Ebay for my sons LT80. The piston is from a Honda CR80 year 1982. The top off the cylinder is milled 1mm down to fit the Honda piston. The cylinder has an engraving "The Works"

Has anyone ever hear off this setup ?

Best regards

Kell

Measure the piston and cylinder bore. Please provide pics of inside the cylinder, and the bottom transfer tracts.
I suspect it's a big bore. A honds piston is what was used on the 105 (actually 96cc) kit
I mill the cylinder also on my national motor.

I think it's a big bore on it's last bore. They only have 2 bores. 52 and 52.5 mm. You can measure to tell.
I can't see in the transfer tracts but it looks like it should run good.

The cylinder bore is 50.08 mm. The piston is 50.0 mm

It's not easy to get a good picture of the transfer ports - hope these will do

Finally a picture of my son racing to day on his LT80

Okey dokey...
Then I don't have a clue on why that piston.
With the exception of the exhaust port design, it's a good copy of a Grissom (CGR) cylinder.
I bet it runs good.
If you don't have clutch mods, I'll gladly advise. IMO, It'll need a bigger torque spring.

What kind of mods. will you recommend ? 4 rollers and cut the rear shoes to 180 g ?

Where can I get a bigger torque spring and from which mashine ? Does Suzuki make them for the LT 80 ?

The biggest diffenrence is the round part on the side which is cut out on the intake side of the piston. A stock Suzuki piston is straight om both sides.

See the attached picture

Best regards

I have torque springs. I have them made.
You will cut the rear shoes. If it runs close to what I'm thinking, it'll be less than 180 grams. And yes, starting at 4 rollers.
Stock pipe?
Measure from the top of the cylinder to the top of the exhaust port. That'll help me.

Yes, stock pipe

It measures 25,8 mm from the top of the cylinder to the top of the exhaust port

I have milled the head. Will this work with the milled/ported cylinder or should I get a stock head instead?

Head: prolly neither. I shave and rechamber the heads to correct the ratio.
I can make one for you if you'd like.
I'll measure my cylinder to compare the exhaust port height so I have an idea on what to do to the head.
Email me about the head.
