try AVG....and use S&D Spybot.... and AdAware........all are free and after you get everything cleared up...uninstall them....Helps to run a few different programs.

Oh yes it can, I let a virus hang around my computer without trying to exterminate it and it messed with my computer. I couldn't even login to my username!

If there's really nothing on the computer, just format the hard drive and reinstall. And get anti-virus software and Mozilla Firefox for browsing. Stay away from IE and Outlook Express. If you are running Windows XP set up a seperate account for the Administrator and then use a non-administrator account for everyday use.

cool....I have been using AVG for better than a year now, and I have no complaints.....plus the price is right! I have had all the other stuff you purchase...norton, Mcaffee ect. and there was something that ALWAYS got by! ......I started using Firefox a week ago and really like how it is set up!
