Default how fast do snowmobiles really go?

i was on this pwctoday.com they were debating if snowmobiles really did go faster than jet skis on water. they do actually they brought up how jet pumps are ineffiecient compared to the track,,, and then the people were saying I bet a snowmobile could barely hit 100 on land..... but thats untrue. my sleds reach 120-155 depending on snow density..... i'm guessing the speed averages from about 70 mph-150 mph?

anyone know?

But they forget that it sucks horsepower to turn that big of a track plus the chain case. Also the track creates drag. I would guess the speed on water to be in the 70 to 90 area

thats why the newer models average 120-170 horsepower depending on engine size..... the smaller the sled the less horsepower it has obviously..

Yes sinking just about anything in the water sucks. And yes they really go across the water and yes you can turn just not very sharp. On some snowmobiles you can slow down then gas it and the snowmobile will go into a vertical wheelie

They have a thumb throtle like a quad does. The transmision on them is just like one on a utility atv that is an auto. The more rpms you have the more the primary clutch comes together making the secondary come apart.

I hav a friend that has an 05 F7 Sno Pro EFI and goes from saukville to grafton on his sled over water. Thats about 5-10 miles. As long as u dont sink ur fine. Theres some ice on the way but not much.
