Default 2000 honda recon rear right wheel hubs going bad

I just replaced a bad one not to long ago and it was fine for a while then it went bad again after a day of riding. I have no clue why it's doing this?

Is the spline on the rear axle end that slips into the hub still in good shape?

If the axle's steel spine is not right it will just eat up the softer alloy hubs. The only thing is to get a new axle or some people weld the hub onto the axle and buy themselves a few years.

Could I somehow make new splines by cutting notches or would this not work?

Never head of a person fixing a axle spline end. Even if you could get a machine shop to do it by the time you remove the axle you might as well buy a new or used one off ebay.

you could weld the hub to the axle. I did this to my old recon a few years ago and it held up fine.
