Default What size hex driver again?

Having a problem figuring out what size hex wrench this part takes. It's labeled #9 at the extreme bottom right of the diagram...

2011 Yamaha GRIZZLY 700 EPS 4WD HUNTER (YFM7FGPHA) Crankcase Cover 1 | Flemington Yamaha

I have a half inch hex and that's def not it, too small. No parts store in town has anything that size so I'm gonna have to special order.

Any idea what size driver this part takes?

They measure them across the flats, probably metric size. If you can get a measuring tool in there to get a measurement across the flats that will be the size it comes in. Sorry best I can do....

The flat gap measured something close to .545in so I bought a 1/2in hex but it was too small. Wrapped a couple turns of duct tape on to fill it out but it wasn't nearly strong enough.

I think zone had maybe a 17mm. I couldn't imagine this thing taking more than a 16 but I guess I'll pick up the 17 and see. Far as I can tell I've exhausted all the local options.

The FSM for my XJ gives mm for every fastner. Be nice if the service manual for the grizz did too.

Called the local big dealer/service shop and they gave absolutely no help.

Was gonna write Yamaha but then when I look up their contact info they've only listed sales and marketing numbers. Suppose it wouldn't hurt to give them a call.

At 545 you will need a 17/32 or a 13.5mm hex to fit. The 1/2 would be way to small. If you cant find anything else a visit to your local machine shop may be needed. Get a bigger hex and have them machine it to size. Should only take a few minutes if they know what there doing and then you will have a tool to keep on hand.
