If i was you what i would do is put the sproket on the secondary clutch and not right on the motor. That way you are less likely to damage your motor

a wicked setup would be full size snowmobile clutches,, secondary just going to a jack shaft no transmission and finding a motor with electronic reverse
ski-doo ,polaris both have them available

I used the snowmobile clutches and went to a jack shaft with a goodyear eagle pd drive belt to the atv transmission. The atv tranny gives me forward and reverse. I had to extent my frame 16" to accomidate everything. ( Mostly the pipes ) I have a few pics in my profile page.

great pics of the sport with the 600 triple in it!!!!

aaen used to make a WICKED!!!! 660 kit for those motoer they were awesome in the sleds

but I still think that the weight savings by using the electronic reverse would be enought to offset the added weight of the larger sled engine overe the stock motor and trans
I'm going to look for a sacked sport this winter
ebay has the odd small block 500 or 600 twin for sale
600 small block twin with VES and electronic reverse would be an insane setup

small package , reverse and probably 110 horse with twin pipes

I have never been around sleds, but I am planning to build one of thes in the future. So whats the deal with the electronic reverse?
What is it and how does it work? Does it give you neutral?
Thanks

DO YOU HAVE NEUTRAL on you ATV??????

the clutches neutral out at idle!!!!!

the electronic reverse when activated slows the engine idle down to a couple hundred RPM then fires the ignition on the exhaust stroke causing the engine to spin backwards
the secondary clutch is special so it will work in reverse

NOTE
the ONLY reason that SKI-DOO dumped the rotary valve intake in favor of reed valve was to make the electronic reverse work!!!

Yes I have neutral.... dont have reverse, dont care about reverse. Just curious thats all. I like neutral, so i can clean my motor out at the line. --- But with a jack shaft you cant do this. So the motors gota be spot on.

Default Snowmobile Motor On A Quad Frame????????

years ago when we did ice drags with our drag sleds we rigged up a bracket with a wheel on it that stopped the outer shive on the primary clutch from moving so we could clean out our engines like you want to do

the wheels were held in place with a clutch lever off of a dirt bike
